Fill stomachs, not landfills
Food Bank and Food Rescue are two of our largest programs. Through them, approximately 90% of what we distribute is comprised of food and grocery product.
Grocery and Retail Rescue
Our Food Rescue Department works with more than 300 grocery/retail stores to source food that may otherwise go to waste. In 2019, we rescued more than 15.5 million pounds of product (equivalent to more than 13 million meals) from retailers. Food that we source from retailers is immediately delivered to nonprofit and faith-based organizations for immediate distribution to the community.
Hot Food Rescue
Three Square’s hot food rescue program consists of the collection of prepared, but unserved, hot surplus banquet food from various resort properties on the Las Vegas Strip. In 2019, Three Square rescued more than 312,000 pounds of food from 16 donors across the city. That is the equivalent of more than 260,000 meals.
Food Shows
Las Vegas hosts approximately 19,000 meetings and conventions a year. Several of those conventions are food industry shows, such as 7-Eleven and the National Association of Convenience Stores. These shows are centered around both non-perishable and prepared food products that would typically be thrown in the trash after the show is over. In 2018, we were able to rescue the equivalent to more than 226,000 meals from these shows with the help of Three Square team members and volunteers.
