If you have ever visited Three Square, you may have noticed a Margaret Mead quote above our Demonstration Kitchen: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." It is a reminder for us at Three Square that we simply cannot do what we do without collaboration from our community partners. Fortunately, we operate in a city that is home to generous individuals, families and corporations who relate to our mission and recognize that they too can join us in the fight to end hunger.
Wynn Resorts is one of those partners who believes that no one should have to go hungry, and they pride themselves in serving our community. In 2018, Wynn employees donated nearly 2,000 hours of service to Three Square, and the company's donations have created more than 2.25 million meals for our community. In the past two years, Wynn has also sponsored Mobile School Grocery Giveaways and Pack and Give Back sessions.
Recently, they hosted an event in conjunction with The Pack Shack, a non-profit organization whose mission is, "to supply provisions and opportunities for our neighbors in need." The event, called "Feed the Funnel," brought together teams of volunteers to pack and box meals for the food-insecure. It was one of the Wynn's largest volunteer events of the year, which resulted in an astounding 150,000 meals for Three Square.
Realizing that our vision is "no one in our community should be hungry," sounds like an unrealistic feat. However, with amazing partnerships like the one we have with Wynn Resorts, we are on our way to a hunger-free Southern Nevada.
