As a new month begins, we remind ourselves to take a moment to reflect on the events of September, which is known here at Three Square and across the nation as Hunger Action Month. Our community never fails to rally together when help is needed, and this month was no exception.
Throughout Hunger Action Month, we challenged Southern Nevada to get involved and raise awareness about the hunger problem in our community. In addition to hosting a virtual food drive and volunteering with us, there were a number of fun events that made it easier than ever for anyone interested to participate and provide meals for families and individuals in need.
In partnership with Audacy and Hunger Related Events, the 4 Corners Food Drive Radiothon returned to raise awareness for hunger and presented an opportunity to support our neighbors who are struggling to put food on the table. On Hunger Action Day, the two-day, virtual event raised more than $70,000, the equivalent of more than 210,000 wholesome meals.
KOMP 92.3 “The Rock Station” wrapped up September with their annual Hunger Action Month Radiothon. Throughout the day, the station featured interviews with community partners, clients who sought food assistance, Culinary Council members, and our generous sponsors who continue to stand alongside us in our pursuit of a hunger-free community.
Although September has come to an end, hunger is not seasonal. The need continues to be great, and there is still much work to be done. We would be honored to have you join us in our mission.
Together, we are stronger.
Together, we can feed everyone.
