LAS VEGAS, Oct. 15, 2024 – The Southern Nevada community came together to support Three Square Food Bank during Hunger Action Month in September, raising a total of $703,219. As a result, the non-profit organization will distribute 2,109,657 meals to local individuals facing food insecurity.
Hunger Action Month is an annual nationwide campaign that takes place each September to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire action. The generous support enables Three Square to continue its battle against hunger in Southern Nevada. More than 341,000 individuals, constituting one in seven people, find themselves unable to obtain proper nourishment to sustain healthy and active lifestyles.
“It’s incredible to witness the continuous outpouring of support from our local community each year during Hunger Action Month,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “The number of hungry neighbors across the valley is troubling, and we are grateful to the many compassionate Southern Nevadans who have joined our fight against food insecurity.”
Three Square is one step closer to a hunger-free community thanks to the following sponsors: Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bank of Nevada, Barclays, Boyd Gaming Corporation, CSAA Insurance Group, Desert Produce Sales, InTouch Credit Union, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Picerne Real Estate Group, and The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas.
It was an action-packed September with plenty of ways to get involved during Hunger Action Month, from volunteering and donating to hosting virtual food drives. Efforts included:
- Three Square’s Community-wide Virtual Food Drive returned this year, providing community members the opportunity to donate throughout September.
- Albertsons and Vons teamed up with Three Square Food Bank to host a Hunger Action Month Donation Drive. From September 1-30, customers had the option of donating directly to Three Square at any store location’s checkout line using the pin pad.
- Dine with a Purpose returned to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace from September 1-30, allowing diners to enjoy incredible dishes while supporting those struggling with hunger across the valley.
- Nevada Public Radio’s Fall Membership Campaign took place September 9-20, giving members the option to donate meals to Three Square in lieu of receiving traditional “thank you” gifts when they make their pledge of membership support. MGM Resorts International has funded the value of all meals designated to Three Square.
- Hugo Boss celebrated its New Season Launch event at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace on September 13 and 14, where shoppers had the opportunity to purchase the latest fashions while supporting the fight against hunger in Southern Nevada.
- Audacy and Hunger Related Events partnered with Three Square to host the annual 4 Corners Food Drive from September 23-27. Mix 94.1 FM led the efforts by broadcasting live from various Albertsons locations to collect food and funds. The food drive provided more than 600,000 meals for Three Square.
- Once again, longtime supporter Lotus Broadcasting participated with the KOMP-92.3 FM Radiothon on September 30, inspiring listeners to contribute to Three Square’s Community-wide Virtual Food Drive.
- Las Vegas filled up for a good cause at The Giving Pump. Throughout September, specially marked, colorful purple pumps at participating Shell stations across the city allowed givers to donate a portion of their fill-up to Three Square. This initiative will continue until the end of October.
