LAS VEGAS, Oct. 28, 2024 – Continuing its fight against hunger in Southern Nevada, Three Square Food Bank’s 15th annual Holiday Match Challenge will take place Friday, Nov. 1 through Tuesday, Dec. 31. Contributions made by the campaign’s matching sponsors will allow Three Square to double the impact of donations made through the end of the year, providing twice as many meals to food-insecure individuals in the community during the holidays.
This year’s Holiday Match Challenge is supported by area businesses and community leaders, including Boyd Gaming Corporation, Nevada Gold Mines operated by Barrick and Intermountain Healthcare.
More than 341,000 individuals, constituting one in seven people, find themselves unable to obtain proper nourishment to sustain healthy and active lifestyles. This includes more than 115,000 children, or one in five. While hunger is not seasonal, the need for food assistance will become greater as families try to make the most of the holiday season while facing the high cost of living and other everyday needs.
“The holiday season should be a time of joy for our community,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “Unfortunately, many people will be struggling to find their next meal. With this year’s Holiday Match Challenge, we hope that, with the generous support of Southern Nevadans, Three Square can ensure our neighbors have access to the nutritious meals they need.”
