Volunteers are the heart and soul of Three Square Food Bank. Each week, thousands of selfless, caring individuals, families and groups donate their time to helping us move food out of our kitchen and warehouses and into the community. April is a time when we celebrate our volunteers for their dedication and hard work in helping us relieve hunger in Southern Nevada. We spoke with Volunteer Engagement Manager Mikell Roberts to learn more about her team, Three Square's volunteers, and the upcoming National Volunteer Appreciation Week.

Bank of America and Three Square Food Bank have been fighting hunger together for the past 10 years. Since 2008, Bank of America employees have volunteered thousands of hours and have donated the equivalent of more than 1.2 million meals. Al Welch, president of Bank of America, took a moment to speak with us on how his company is playing an active role in ending hunger.

Robison Middle School is Powered by Breakfast! The staff at Robison work together to make sure that kids have access to the first meal of the day through innovative breakfast delivery options, such as Second Chance Breakfast. Implementing the Second Chance Breakfast model is no easy feat, but Robison has been able to adapt the model to work for them. We spoke with Valencia A. Meyer, dean of students, to learn more about the challenges and rewards of incorporating a breakfast program into her school's daily routine.

Giving Society members Anthony and Amy Laws have been a part of Three Square's pursuit of a hunger-free community since 2010. The couple has generously contributed the equivalent of nearly 50,000 meals to our food-insecure neighbors. On top of that, Amy volunteers often with us and has donated more than 253 hours of her time to the fight to end hunger. Our volunteer department presented her last year with a volunteer appreciation award for her selfless devotion to serving our community. We interviewed Amy to delve into the reasons behind their passion for giving.
